Hello Everyone! My name is Courtney and I am the face behind Wild ‘N Wonderful Creations.
I live in the beautiful state of West Virginia with my husband, three children and two chocolate labs. I work full time at a local bank as a Branch Service Manager and enjoy creating in my spare time.
When I was growing up my dad (believe it or not) crocheted. This is when I was first introduced to the amazing art of crochet. I remember sitting on the couch and being mesmerized by watching him crochet one stitch at a time until he turned a boring skein of yarn into this amazing creation that was not only beautiful but useful.
After marrying my husband in 2010, I would find myself once again enthralled by watching my mother-in-law crochet when we stopped over for a visit. In 2014, my best friend announced that she was having her second baby. If anyone knows anything about me, they know that I am a very sentimental person. I love gifts that have a meaning behind them. What would be a better gift for my best friend’s new baby than a handmade crochet blanket? I immediately went to my local craft store, picked up some yarn and a crochet hook and headed to my mother-in-law’s. After she showed me the basic stitches of crochet there was no stopping me.
I started making simple projects like basic hats and scarves and grew to fall more and more in love with crochet. I found myself wanting to try different stitches and eventually started making harder projects like diaper cover sets and character hats.
I loved making my crochet projects for my family and friends. I would post pictures on Facebook to show off my work and started getting messages from people asking if I would make something for them. This is when I decided to start crocheting for profit.
In March, 2018 after months of debate I opened up an Etsy Shop. I found myself wanting to do more than just crochet. I saw that someone on my Facebook had this cool machine called a Cricut. Well I just HAD to have one. I did my research and ended up purchasing a Cricut Maker in June, 2018. This machine took my creations to a whole new level. I began designing and making t-shirt, tank tops and onesies. My sales started to pick up drastically.
So why a blog? When I first started to crochet, I highly depended on the Internet to help teach me new things. I remember having a hard time finding videos or instructions for beginners. Same goes for my Cricut. So, a blog is where I want to start. I want to be able to not only help experienced makers but new makers learn more about something they enjoy and that makes them happy.
If anyone would like to know more about me or would just like to say hello, feel free to reach out to me.
